JEDDAH: The Saudi Border Guard in the Eastern Province on Sunday saved two men — a Briton and an Indian — whose boat broke down in the Arabian Gulf near the city of Ras Tanura.
The boat was on its way from the UAE to Kuwait when it suffered a failure in the diesel pump and had to be towed to the nearest pier, said Border Guard spokesman Col. Saher Al-Harbi.
The boat, whose crew was in good health, was towed to King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam, where it was repaired, he added.
Al-Harbi urged all maritime passengers to follow security and safety requirements, wear life jackets if they sense a possible emergency, and call the Border Guard hotline (994) for help.
