National Geographic Abu Dhabi (NGAD), in longstanding partnership with Almarai, on Wednesday announced the launch of “Operation Almarai,” a unique documentary providing a rare insight into the operations of Almarai, the world’s largest vertically integrated dairy company and the region’s largest food and beverage manufacturing and distribution company.
The documentary showcases Almarai’s pivotal operations role in producing over 8 million units of fresh dairy, bakery and juice products every day, while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
It covers the company’s massive operations with a highly efficient transport and logistics division, and a 9,000-vehicle fleet delivering to over 100,000 retailers in the Middle East and North Africa.
The documentary also shows the contribution of Almarai to the economies of the Kingdom and other countries through its sophisticated supply chain operation.
The documentary provides “an understanding on the commitment and efficiency of Almarai,” said Hussam AbdulQader, executive vice president, corporate marketing.
“With millions of people relying on our products across the Middle East and North Africa, the scale of our operations that Almarai undertakes day in, day out, to maintain a steady supply of product across the region is only made possible through the members, the stringent quality assurance measures, highest food safety standards and leading industry technology at every step of the supply chain that allows for the highest capacity output in the Middle East,” he added.
“Our best-in-class and unique vertical integration was designed to protect this supply chain, making sure quality is never compromised and our operations are run to the highest efficiency levels.”
The film brings to life the company’s logistics and operations, peppered with interviews and real-life moments that immerse viewers in the story, with exciting aerials, ground footage and time lapses highlighting the scale and size of operations.
Shot in Almarai’s central processing plant and several of its depots, the film shadows workers engaged in daily activities, from production to distribution and handling.
“We are so proud of this film, marking the 40th anniversary of Almarai, a pioneering Saudi company that has become a global benchmark in its industry,” said Sanjay Raina, general manager and senior vice president of Fox Networks Group.
“In this film, we wanted to shed light on the complicated operations and logistics that Almarai undertakes everyday within each of its departments, using a period in the calendar year that is significantly higher in demand as the thread throughout the piece,” he added.
“Hajj was a prime example of how Almarai is able to manage extreme numbers without compromising on quality.”
The film is set to air on National Geographic Abu Dhabi across the region at 11 p.m. UAE time and 10 p.m. KSA time on Dec. 18.
