RIYADH: The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid (KSRelief) has implemented 218 projects worth more than $748 million in support of the Yemeni people, local media reported on Saturday.
KSRelief also signed a $33.7 million project on Thursday with the World Health Organization (WHO) to combat the cholera epidemic in Yemen.
The center previously signed a $33 million deal with UNICEF to implement programs for water and environmental sanitation.
Other KSRelief projects involve shelter, camp management and coordination, education, health, protection and early recovery, nutrition, water and environmental sanitation, logistics and support, and coordination of humanitarian operations. The center has distributed more than 19 million liters of water.
The center distributed thousands of food baskets in the governorates of Abyan, Marib, Jouf, Shabwa, Baidah, Taiz, Lahj, Abhyan and Hadramout. The islands of Al-Fasht and Balkan also received food aid.
Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Nasir Baoum thanked the Kingdom and other Gulf countries, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Abdul Raqib Fatah, minister of local administration and chairman of the Yemeni Relief Committee, lauded KSRelief’s and the Kingdom’s support for his country.
