Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah congratulated Saudi Human Rights Commission on Friday for playing a positive role in the Kingdom’s re-election to the UN Human Rights Council for the third time. The king was responding to a congratulatory cable sent by HRC President Bandar Al-Aiban.
King Abdullah thanked the commission and its members for their greetings. “We thank you all for the noble sentiments you expressed and for the sincere prayers you made,” the king said in a message addressed to Al-Aiban.
Al-Aiban earlier said in his message: “The election of the Kingdom to the Human Rights Council with 140 votes signifies its achievements under the leadership of the king to strengthen and defend human rights.”
He said it “underscores King Abdullah’s sincere efforts” to ensure the spread of the principles of justice, equality, peace and tolerance throughout the world.
