The King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur’an (KFCPHQ) distributed 6.85 million copies of the Holy Qur’an in 59 languages between Jan. 1 and Oct. 5.
‘‘KFCPHQ distributed 9.55 million copies of the Holy Qur’an and various publications related to the holy book. They included 6.85 million copies of the full text of the Holy Qur’an, 1.68 millions of juza (a juza is 1/30th part of the Holy Qur’an), 11,121 recitation recordings, 360,024 copies of books related to the Holy Qur’an, and 646,904 translations of the holy book to 59 languages including 24 Asian languages, 18 European languages and 17 African languages," a recent report of the complex said.
The complex has completed required studies to prepare a Braille copy of the Holy Qur’an to cater to the increasing demand from blind readers. A private agency has been contracted to train Saudi technicians on various stages of preparing the Braille edition, the report said.
The report added that 82 percent of the 1,700 workers in the printing complex were Saudis.
The report said 8.96 million copies were distributed in the Kingdom and 592,099 copies abroad.
It put the number of daily visitors to the complex during the period between 2,500 and 4,000. Visitors are allowed to see various phases of the printing of the holy book and are presented with copies of the publications.
The complex also participated in 22 exhibitions of which 14 were conducted abroad.
The complex has prepared an Android voice platform for the teaching of the Holy Qur’an.
It has developed a center for digital research and a project for the imaging of its publications in addition to building an advanced electronic system for technical support and maintenance service. It has also developed a site for the Madinah Mushaf Program offering digitized service for the Holy Qur’an and its sciences, update and development of calligraphic scripts, and tracing, conversion of the copies to PDF files besides enabling browsing its publications on Iphone and Ipad.
The complex printed and distributed the 10th issue of the Qur’an Research Magazine with abstracts in English.
Another remarkable achievement of the complex during the period is the completion of the second phase of the preparation of a commentary of the Holy Qur’an in the sign language.
The report added that the complex would organize a seminar on the printing and publishing of the Holy Qur’an with the support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
